Eastern Sierra Double Century
Let's give a big "Who Hah" for that old North
Wind out of Benton Crossing! It was the savior for
many a rider this year. Jeff Landauer had such an easy
day that after his ride, he took off on a 30-minute run and
then set up his massage table at ride finish. Not too
bad for a guy that had just soloed the last 120 miles of the
event and set a new course record of 9 hours 56 minutes.
He humiliated the old record by 20-minutes (one that he and
a group of riders set a few years ago). Most riders
were still on Sagehen, while Jeff was exchanging his cycling
cleats for a pair of Nikes! These images were
captured on Old Sherwin Grade and Sagehen.

Heartbreak Double Century
Memorial Day Weekend brought
blistering temperatures and riders faced possible
heatstroke......NOT!! Ride start saw 25 mph headwinds
and a wind chill factor of 16 degrees. If i'm lyin',
I'm dyin'. A few people (whom I guess don't have
Internet at home) showed up in shorts and sleeveless
jerseys. Needless to say, they let the winds blow them
back to ride start, after a few miles. It turned out to be a
decent day and those that stuck it out, were greeted by a
great tailwind on the way home. These images were
captured at the crest of Heartbreak.

2006 Hemet Double Century
Over 200 riders helped Ride Director Jim
Watrous celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Hemet Double
Century. Aside from a few gusty winds, the weather was
ideal and several riders completed their first double
century.
2006 Solvang Double
Century
Epic!! A "boatload" of riders made
their way to Solvang. Many were prepared for the
second coming of Noah. Others, never checked the
forecast and started the rider in their finest summer wear.
Many riders fell by the wayside...wet and cold. We
also learned how many riders and bikes can fit into a taxi.
By the time people arrived in Morro Bay, they were greeted
by clearing skies and a stout tailwind back to Solvang.
Kudos to the hearty souls who finished the event and the
awesome support people who were never short of
encouragement.
2006 Spring Death Valley Double
Century
The ride maxed out with
a combo of 300 century and double century riders.
Aside from a little rough road issue, the conditions were
among the best ever for this ride. You could read the
apprehension in the rider's faces when they arrived Friday
night and were greeted with 35 mph winds and chilly temps.
All the fretting was for naught, as Saturday was a perfect
day for a DOUBLE!
2005 Knoxville Double Century
Quack, Quack, Quack! The boys hosted a
ride that will be tough to beat. Temps were easily 20
degrees below what the riders have endured the past two
years. Sunday's award ceremony saw six riders inducted
into the Cal Triple Crown Hall of Fame and Dave Evans
recognized for never DNF'ing any of his 100+ double
centuries.
2005 Desperado Dual Double Century
No sophomore
slump for the wonderful folks form
Color Country Cycling Club! The number of riders were
up from 2005 and the temperatures were down - perfect.
Many riders set PRs for the event. Others used it as a
tune-up for the 2005
LOTOJA race.
2005 Eastern Sierra Double Century
The rumor is that Deb and Brian paid big $$$
to the "Weather Gods" this year for some of the best
conditions in recent memory (next time, maybe they could
spend a little more to assure a tailwind on the way back to
Bishop)!!

2005 Davis Double Century
The 36th annual Davis
Double Century greeted 1,000 riders with spectacular riding
conditions. Always a favorite among the double riders, the DDC once
again lived up to its reputation as the most popular
double century in all of California.
2005 Breathless Agony
Take 114 miles, add 12,000' of vertical, stir
in dense fog and temps that were just 7 degrees above
freezing, "stick to your cleats mud", and the Grim Reaper
with a scythe. Throw in 265
cyclists and shake well. Voila!! The 2005
Breathless Agony.
2005 Mulholland Double
Century
"Epic!" "Another 1,200 feet??"
"Hold on, I gotta walk this sucker." "I feel like
@#&*!!" These are just a few things overheard at
the 2005 Mulholland Double Century. Mix together a little
heat, 140 riders, 16,500' of elevation, and you have the
first leg of the Cal Triple Crown Stage Race.
2005 Hemet Double Century
Over 200 riders helped Ride Director Jim

2005
Solvang Double Century
The largest and best
Solvang Double Century ever! Over 500 riders enjoyed
near perfect weather conditions. Countless "PR"s were
set. Our hosts, Deb and Brian (with the help of all
the volunteers), showed everyone just how much fun a double
century can really be. Kudos to all who had a hand in
this classic ride!
2005
Butterfield Double Century
The 2005 Cal Triple Crown
opened with a bang and then a splish and a splash. Congrats
to the 86 brave and hearty souls who endured rain, mud,
wind, and route changes. They even dodged a tornado
along their journey!

2004 LA Wheelmen Grand Tour
450 riders enjoyed the 46th annual Grand
Tour. This ride had everything: morning mist and
limited visibility, bright hot sun, 50 mph winds, romance,
honeymooners, and the best Tri-Tip I have ever had!
2004 Race Across Oregon
Imagine riding along beautiful Oregon back country roads,
through lush forests and among the incredible fossil
formations along the John Day River. Now imagine doing this
532 mile ride in 34 hours and 36 minutes through freezing
rains, over 38,000 feet of elevation gain, living off of
Slimfast and Cytomax and without sleeping...more

Near perfect conditions
greeted 250 riders as they headed out of Bishop for the 2004

people needed as they made the final push up Sage Hen
Summit.
